We were in the general vicinity of Mt. Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone, SD and decided it would be well worth the time to visit. My family raced ahead as I lagged behind with three cameras.
A few years ago, I made a few changes to my compostion style. Instead of seeking clean shots, I now try to incorporate the public into my frames when possible. A gentle pivot towards editorial.
As it is, I now approach crowded locations with glee rather than apprehension. People make ordinary scenes interesting. Example above, I have no recollection of taking the frame of the flagged draped woman. I was trying to get a clean shot of the bust of Gutzon Borglum in between groups of meandering tourists. Which image is more interesting?
