Dubai, UAE
(2013-2015) This series explores Dubai from the inside out. Beginning 1,821' (555m) above the city, the highest public observation deck on the Burj Khalifa, the financial pinnacle of the middle east, ending 5km away in a dank alley on the far horizon. Spiraling down from the tower we linger briefly, before tracing a concentric path from the tower, remarking on the distinct lack of human activity along the way.
Working out, we slowly turn the camera back onto the tower itself. Omnipresent, the Burj looms in the background and becomes the centerpiece of many images. Our story turns, picking up on a delipidated telephone pole, we trace its lines across wide highways to the neighborhoods of those immigrants who built the glass palaces above. Winding farther, we see life unfold despite severe wealth disparity. Human activity, not witnessed in the core of the city, plays out kilometers away.
All images are available for RM Stock and fine art prints.
